Storage Ideas for our new home
Posted by Mrs Toscia in activities, Happy days on August 23, 2009
I’ve been thinking alot about how to create a proper storage system in our new home.
Mr EB has always been complaining about messy our home in Sydney was. Saying that I have so many things around. To be honest, he’s been very sweet and accomodating and have always let me be (most of the time) so I want to think carefully what I want to do in our new place.
So far, I’ve thought about a few boxes for specific purposes. I used tiffany boxes cus I just love the packaging. :p Would be nice to alot of them around!!! hehee… Who knows. maybe I’ll get one in Tiffany blue and make them real boxes for my storage!! :p
Dry skin… dry lips… argh!! winter blues!

What to wear to work on a cold wintry day?
Coming from a summer-all-year country, it’s not easy for me to come up with ideas of what to wear to work during winter.
I have enough stuff to layer up during weekends but just not enough sweaters or tutlenecks (i really don’t like tutlenecks by the way), to go around!
Thankfully the office is not usually that cold so I’m alright.
However, winter has made my skin really dry and thirsty. I have not been receiving facial care from my mum, who is a beautician, and I have been suffering from it! Like the famous saying, necessity is a mother of invention; I am typing this blog while my face is covered in a mixture of avocado and many other things. (I’ve also coerced the hubby to do the same.)
I’ve just started buying and collecting past bottles to fill up my little beauty fix salon. So let the magic begin soon!
I need to solve my lips though. They are always red from dehydration and chapping. I have never have to battle this back home and also the winter-pounds around the face.
This is a probably a good experience for me to feel both the extremes of weathers and under better how to fight them, and perhaps, in future, be able to help other women with that!
Meanwhile, I went to DFO Sydney for the first time yesterday and boy oh boy… I have gone completely overboard with the shopping and I have to watch my spending in the next two weeks!! sigh.. the life of a shopaholic trying to suppress the addict.
So to sum many many days of not blogging: the winter, although good for laying up all kinds of fashion trends, or trying out different boots and jackets, is SO SO bad for the emotional health, vanity (you put on winter-weight, get chapped lips all the time, and seriously dry skin), and electrical bills. (from heaters and the like.)
Wee!!

Here’s something I wanted to post on “So you think you can dance”
This was a dance of both of my favourite dancers. Kate and Graeme. Mr EB is definitely quite jealous of how I think Graeme is cute/good dancer. hehe.
And this is the best dance for Vanessa- the favourite in the house amongst the boys.
Oh this really makes me miss salsa so much…
Easter Sunday

Happy Easter everybody!!
Woke up really early today for Easter Mass at 7am at St Mary’s Cathedral- which is in the city.
It has got to be the most beautiful church I’ve attended mass at, and a fancy choir and orchestra to boot. Here are some photos I took.

Here’s also our neighbourhood in the day time. Lovely skies so I decided to snap some shots!

We were walking back to our place and as I tilt my head back to drink from my bottle, I saw this beautiful view that I just had to take a shot of.

I took this shot because I was just so amazed at the number of stations Sydney has. Compared to Singapore, it’s really.. jaw dropping.

A few points..

Just got back from having dinner at a Malaysian eatery, known as Mamak- which was opened by one of our friend’s friend, who used to work in banks- gave up their day jobs to open a roti prata place!
It was nice but expensive Rotis and Nasi Gorengs. Teh Tarik costs $3.50AUD. Normal coffee shop size.
After having drinks at Charlie Chan ( a very asian bar), we saw two police cars with blaring sirens charging into a lane where there were even more police cars. It was not a sight I was used to for sure, but we hurried along because you never know what’s happening.. like if an armed man charged out and shoot anyone he sees.
Two days ago, a korean student was stabbed in one of the busiest places in Sydney before shop opening hours, so I suppose you can never be too safe.
It’s the fourth day in Sydney and our housemate, P, drove us to Glebe Market at Broadway where there is a weekend market of very affordable and very chic shops. I got a very beautiful dress for 20AUD and it’s definitely an alternative to Paddington market.
I got a number of things done the few days while I’m here…
- Getting lost in the city.
- Getting an aussie phone number
- Setting up my bank account with (no) money.
- Meeting Michael Paige
- Always being beside the husband. :p
- Cleaning up, household chores.
wahaha…. I do miss my family alot and I am quite worried about my dog’s health. Tomorrow is Easter Sunday and I’ll be heading for morning mass… and pray for peace and harmony…
Here’s some photo and some of our delicious home made dinner as well as of our nice one at Chat Thai, which is at Campbell St, Haymarket. We had to wait for about 45minutes before getting a seat.

I found my Olympus film camera with left over film and used a battery which I have never used in a long time- together, I used it frivolously to finish the roll and I really do enjoy film cameras! They have that mystery… of not knowing what is being taken in reality!
Folding in 2 seconds!!
Posted by Mrs Toscia in activities on March 3, 2008
As Mrs Galatea, it is my imperative to know (almost) all household tricks. The household goddess definitely needs some help, and here’s an amazing trick to fold a teeshirt in 2 seconds!
Oh my Goodness. If I learnt this when I was working in Zara, I wouldn’t be grumbling when customers messed up those piles of t-shirts just to see the design of the tee and decide not to buy it. lol!
Enjoy!!

A lot of different thoughts

I was watching Nigella Lawson on cable as I was having lunch and as much as I can’t stand her “making love to the camera” antics ALL the time, I do learn a few things and today I learnt that cheesecakes are “baked” with water around it. hehe. Maybe some of you know it, but as a beginner, that’s quite an enlightenment.
So last Sunday, I attended G and I’s wedding which was at “the pod” at the highest floor of our National Library. It was an informal event with no parents and all friends. So it felt a bit like the teenage drunk party when your parentsĀ are on vacation except this was more”grown up”. haha.
As almost everyone there was in production line, people are more out going and more “crazy”. They get on the microphone and start doing all sorts of crazy things and hilarious speeches. The groom did a pole dancing act, as well as a very cute indian dance with an equally hilarious made-up indian music. Apparently there was a bollywood actor there so she was laughing, which means, it’s nothing offensive.
The good thing about being in production line I suppose, is that their sound, lights, photos, videography, voice recording, (G recorded a song she sang which was dedicated to her groom. It was written from scratch and music was created from scratch.) were all either sponsored or at friend favours, or at a really dirt cheap price. Which is just fantastic for any young couple who is not willing to spend a BOMB on weddings.
hehe. They even got G’s son to do a little story telling of how their daddy and mummy met.
Speaking of kids, EB has been telling me he has been having thoughts of kids, and to be honest, so do I! It is really quite crazy. I am really excited about having that tummy, going for ultrascans, having my hubby send me around. wahahha.
Well… I guess we gotta hold that thought for a long time since we need to be married “traditionally” (all the old school chinese traditions). I’m really excited though. And hope to be able to do it asap..
See, happy now?

I typed a post about stupid full taiwanese hotels and a choir concert I went to, but wordpress decided to give way now. So. there we go. Empty post.
But I shall still post this photo cus I miss my hubby.

A photo of my 21st. Wee! Still unimaginable that I got married 11 days after my 21 birthday. Some cool numbers there. 11, 21. na na na na….
A self made mannequin
Posted by Mrs Toscia in activities, Health and food on February 15, 2008
So I woke up earlier than yesterday which is good since I don’t waste the entire morning. Was supposed to meet Cyn from my Secondary school but I replied her late so we’ll be meeting next week! Me and my laziness delayed sms-es.
So this morning, I finished what I started out last night, which was my self-made half mannequin in order to put my ‘in-progress’ clothes on to see. All you need is duct tape, scissors, and a filler (I used newspapers in my case).
So I just taped myself, and then when it’s done, cut it and put it together again. The only problem is that the duct tape is so dammm sticky it keeps sticking onto itself and it’s hard to pull it apart again. I ran out of duct tape so it’s headless. hehe.

Then the rest of my afernoon, was spent on a close to 4 hour long waxing. I mean, I’m not Godzilla, but the hair on my feet just doesn’t seem to come off. It could be because of my moisturizer I put on after my shower but still!!!
So then, I decided to google on this spot thing I have on my calves. I have been having them since about 2 years ago when I started epilating and the skin on my calves became reacting this way. I found it online which exactly looks like mine. I feel ashamed to say I have ugly legs.
It is known as Keratosis Pilaris and I am thinking of ways to solve this stupid unsightly problem. I might consider seeing a dermatologist but it seems like it’s hereditary for me as my mum has it too. I’ve always thought it was just ingrown hair.
Sigh.. My health is in a wreck. I’m just happy that the eczema looking dryness and itchiness is gone from my eye. Thanks to the scary acupuncture session which I still have to go again next week.
